Orecchiette pasta
Olive oil
Walnut pieces
Sweet turkey Italian sausage
Garlic cloves
Broccoli
Lemon
Crushed red pepper
Goat cheese
Directions:
Cook 6 oz. of orecchiette pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1 cups cooking liquid; drain.
While pasta cooks, heat 1 tsp. oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ¼ cups walnuts; cook 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer walnuts to a plate.
Add 4 tsp. oil and 8 oz. of sausage to pan; cook 6 minutes, stirring to crumble sausage.
Add and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally and scraping pan to loosen browned bits:
3 garlic cloves
1 bunch (12 oz.) broccoli
½ cups reserved pasta water
Add to pan and toss to combine:
Remaining 1/2 cups pasta water
Cooked pasta
1 Tbsp. lemon rind
1 tsp. lemon juice
¼ tsp. red pepper flakes
Toasted walnuts
Sprinkle with 3 oz. of goat cheese. Serve immediately.
