FAQs

  • It is the Iowa Turkey Federation’s bipartisan Political Action Committee(PAC) that financially supports Iowa House and Senate Candidates who are champions for the Iowa turkey industry.

  • Grassroots government requires leaders from diverse backgrounds and careers. In 2024, the average predicted cost to run for a competitive Iowa House Seat is $300,000 and for an Iowa Senate Seat is $500,000. Candidates do not have the resources to self-fund their campaigns, so supporters like you, need to contribute so they can represent you at the Iowa Capitol.

  • The ITFPAC increases our voice by making sure the turkey industry has representation from candidates that are knowable of issues important to you at the Iowa Statehouse.

  • ITF has an ITFPAC committee who looks at incumbent district representation, committee assignments, and voting history. While turkey production in their districts is a key factor to receive a donation, legislators who support efforts to strengthen the turkey industry are also candidates for ITFPAC support, regardless of committee assignments or turkey production in their district. The ITFPAC considers candidate requests and then is approved by the board. Checks are distributed to the candidates in early October and are preferably delivered by a member of the turkey industry to give a face to the contribution received.
